Congratulations
Our youth teams had a fantastic weekend in Vancouver.  Once again, our teams hit several zero deduction routines and had some of their highest scores of the season.  Thank you to all of our amazing staff & coaches along with our incredible parents for helping to make this a wonderful weekend!

Open Gym
Thursday, Apr 12 – 8-10pm
Friday Apr 13 – 4-6pm (Last one of the season and it’s FREE!)
Sunday, Apr 15 – 7-9pm (Last one of the season)

All-Star Cheer Extravaganza
 – April 21
This competition is held at the Shaw Conference Centre downtown.  Our all-star tiny through senior teams plus Vortex will participate in this event.  We are still waiting on an updated schedule and will share it with families as soon as we get it.

Upcoming Classes

  • Youth 3 Development Clinic – April 15 – 5:30-7pm– for athletes 8-11 as of Aug 31 who are considering trying out for youth 3.
  • Spring Programs– For those new to cheer, we are running spring rec cheer teams for ages 3.5-12.  All the details are on our website or call the gym for more information.
  • Team Selection Preparation Clinics are happening on Saturday, May 12th.  Visit our website for a listing of all the classes available.
  • Team Selections for 2018-19 are open for registration.

Train with Thunder Fundraiser
This is your chance to learn from the best!  On May 5th Thunder is running two skills training sessions: Level 1 & 2 runs from 10am-12pm and Level 3-5 runs 12:30-2:30pm.  Register on-line by April 15 to secure your spot.  $25 per person.  All money goes directly towards Thunder’s Worlds fees.

Last Team Practices for All-Star Teams
All-star teams will have their last practices the week of April 16-19.  Their season will officially conclude after the competition on April 21.

Team Summer Camps
Our team training camps for 2018-19 all-star teams will take place August 24-29.  Teams will train 3 of these days with exact dates to be announced.  Attendance at these clinics is extremely important so please plan accordingly.

Fundraising
VIP Meats is a local Alberta-based business. They use mostly Alberta and Canadian sourced products for their entire menu. Only a couple of the pork products are sourced from the USA. Copies of the order form are available at the gym this week or print the form attached. Orders must be received no later than April 13 at 8pm.  Parents will be collecting orders all week from 6-8pm at the gym. Athletes (parents) must turn in their tallied orders and full order payment of cash, Visa, MasterCard or debit at the same time.

2018-19 Summit Teams
Next season we will be fielding 2 teams that will be vying for bids to the 2019 International Summit in Orlando, Florida.  This competition takes place at the beginning of May right after Worlds.  In order to be on a Summit team, athletes must already be on another all-star team at Perfect Storm.  Please note that the ages for these teams follow the international age grid which uses December 31, 2019 as their age.  The junior 1 team is for athletes who will be 10-16 years old on Dec 31, 2019 and the senior 2 team is for athletes who will be 14-18 on Dec 31, 2019.  Try-outs for these teams will take place on June 14 from 5-8pm.

Worlds/Summit Showcase
On Thursday, April 19 at 7pm we will be hosting a showcase for all Perfect Storm Athletics teams who are competing at Worlds or Summit.  Admission is a donation of $2 per person.  Teams performing include: Junior 2 Cyclones, Junior Team Canada, Open 5 Thunder, Open 6 Lighting, and Open 6 Inferno.
